Our Story
Elephants in Bloom is an innovative and sustainable project aimed at creating a harmonious coexistence between the Maasai people and elephants in the Maasai Mara, Kenya. By constructing a natural sunflower barrier around local farms, we will deter elephants, who naturally avoid sunflowers, from entering farmland. This solution ensures the safety and preservation of both the farms and the elephants, preventing harmful encounters and promoting mutual respect between humans and wildlife.
Benefits
The sunflower barrier will protect crops from being trampled or eaten by elephants, ensuring a stable food supply and reducing economic losses for the farmers.
By providing a natural deterrent, the project will prevent the need for harmful traps and spears, safeguarding the lives of these majestic creatures.
The sale of sunflower and elephant-themed products will generate additional income for the Maasai people, contributing to their economic well-being and community development.
By promoting the growth of sunflowers, the project will enhance local biodiversity and contribute to soil health. The sunflowers will attract pollinators, support the local ecosystem, and provide a sustainable agricultural practice that benefits both the environment and the community. This holistic approach ensures long-term ecological balance and resilience.
