Where does this project operate?

Elephants in Bloom operates in the Maasai Mara region of Kenya, one of the world's most important wildlife ecosystems and home to significant elephant populations.

Project Location: Our first group of participating farmers is located in the Lemek, Enarau, Mbokishi, and Mara North Conservancies, community-managed conservation areas within the greater Maasai Mara ecosystem. These conservancies sit along critical elephant migration corridors, making human-elephant conflict a pressing issue for local farming families.

Local Leadership: Stephen, our local coordinator and director, is based in Narok, Kenya. He works directly with the Maasai farming communities, coordinating all on-the-ground activities including seed distribution, farmer training, monitoring sunflower borders, and building relationships throughout the region. His presence in the community ensures the project is responsive to local needs and culturally appropriate.

International Partnership: I serve as the Founder and Director from Tennessee, United States, managing fundraising, communications, international partnerships, and overall project strategy. This structure allows us to combine local expertise and leadership with broader support networks.

Future Expansion: While we currently focus on Lemek and Enarau Conservancies, our vision is to expand this successful model to other areas of the Maasai Mara and eventually to other regions in Kenya where farmers and elephants share the landscape.

The Maasai Mara's unique challenges—rich wildlife living alongside pastoral and farming communities—make it an ideal location to demonstrate that coexistence is possible when communities have the right tools and support.
